Ask for BJT Current Mirror Matching Concerns???

Dear All,

How can I achieve the BJT current mirror matching? Other than
[Ref]AB[Ref]
[Ref]BA[Ref], or [Ref]ABBA[Ref]
where [Ref]'s are diode connected and A & B are outputs
1. Since BJT layout is not symmetric, should we place emitters as close as possible?
2. Any differences for lateral and vertical BJT layout?
3. For matching, should we match the devices by emitter area? min., double of min., max. or else?
