cadence 16 hardware requirements

I bought a new workstation, NOT compatible machine like SUN or HP station, assemble CPU/memory/mainboard/harddisk of varies manufacturer into one.

and I installed red hat linux 9.0 and cadence IC5141 on the workstation. but I met with a problem when using cadence ic5141.

when I open a schematic, and run simulation with Ultrasim or spectre, either post-simulation or pre-simulation, I click on the 'plot wave' button after or before the simulation finished , then a abnormal case happens, ADE/CIW and all other cadence windows quit abruptly, and the corresponding process in memory disappeared too.

this phenomenon happens frequently. my question is, what causes this problem?
the new bought machine ?
not enough memory for process? (but my memory is 16 Gbyte) video card memory?
the cadence environment sets ? or the redhat sets?

besides, I forgot to say that we have another SUN workstation mounting with the new linux station. I login the linux one, and "cd" to the dir on sun solaris disk, then run icfb. Does the problem above have something to do with systems between linux and unix?

Did the process create a core dump file?

NO, it did NOT create any core dump files. So, do you have any idea?

icfb dbpanic

Please check log files, such as CDS.log, we need some information about the crash.
Which color do you use? Try 8 Bit Color.

Why did you install IC5141 into RedHat9? I think it's too old. I have installed IC5141 into RedHat Enterprise Linux As4, it works very well.

to cloudliu:
I changed redhat9 to redhat AS4, but the problem still exists. Thank you all the same!

to meitolake:
the crash create a panic.log file , and it says,

Cellview (DSM_sim05 schematic) from lib (xxx) is saved in the panic file
/export/home/project/cc0609/zj/lib/xxx/DSM_sim05/schematic/sch.cd-)
To recover do:
dbOpenPanicCellView("xxx" "DSM_sim05" "schematic")

And the CDS.LOG last says :
\a schHiObjectProperty()
\r t
\a schObjPropForm->td->value = ""
\r ""
\a hiFormDone(schObjPropForm)
\r t

I set the color to "thousands of colors". Next time, I'll try "hundreds of colors", thank you very much!

Sorry, I do not understand your advice.
check what about the sources and ground? How do the sources and grounds couse a crash?

Would you please give me more detailed information? Thank you!

16 (sixteen) Gigabytes of memory ????

Use 2 Gbytes of main memory only... It should work fine.

First use RH EL3 or another recommended IC5141 env...

Then check if you have *hardware* problems...

Without a crash dump log it's hard to say... Run a long simulation using spectre from command line only, outside icfb, and see if it works ?
