Hello,

My 2.2kW compressor starting capacitor went faulty. (This is a 240V single phase motor with centrifugal starting switch as well as a second capacitor for running)

I ordered a capacitor from ebay. I tested it and the motor works with it.
But the problem I have is that the new capacitor is less than half the physical size volume of the old one.
The wires are also a lot thinner.

The old one was a CD60A 150uF 350VAC
The new one is CD60 1560uF 450VAC

See picture.

I suspect the new capacitor will not last long.
I appears that it was made for a much smaller motor/ less current but I cannot see anywhere that one can specify the power of the motor when ordering capacitors.

Googling around, seems to just come up with the smaller caps.
Yes, all 3 of my compressors have very large capacitors for starting.

I am skeptical that capacitor woudl have advanced in technology this much over the past 5 or so years.

Does anyone know more about this type of capacitor and what I should do?

Best regards
X
