ac power detector

Dear all,
I need an automatic AC input power detector circuit(230V/110V)
just like which having in an SMPS.
anybody having idea pls respond.
my email id is sajeesh@tpenpol.com

Sajeesh.

Most new SMPS do not include an auto voltage detector. Universal input SMPS are designed for input voltage from say 85 Vac to 240 Vac. The control circuit then varies the on - off time in accordance with the input voltage, regulating the output voltage.

Anyway, there are comercially available integrated circuits that do what you are looking for. Basically they consist on a controlled bridge rectifier that acts as a voltage doubler when input voltage is, say 110Vac and as a normal bridge for 220Vac.

I´m attaching two documents I guess will help you.

Pls note that there are other manufacturers not only ST.

Best regards.
