fluorescent circuit

i dont wanna play with high voltage. so can u think of some circuit that doesnt involve high voltages. the circuit i see inside the emergency lamp uses a 6V from lead acid battery as input . but i cant reproduce the circuit bcos it has the battery recharge section included in itself. and the fluorescent lamp im talking about is only 6 to 12 inch in length....

Besides 12V DC needed to pump the fluorescent lamp, what's the current needed?
