Guys,

I am trying to simulate a simple communication and i am not able to understand the following;

My system employs Turbo encoding and the encoded bits are 16-QAM modulated. The channel is a simple AWGN channel. At the receiver, bit LLR is generated corresponding to each symbol before being fed to the turbo decoder.

I am trying to introduce a simple block interleaver into the system and when I do that I notice that the performance degrades.

Is there a dependency between the 16-QAM modulation and channel interleaving for the performance to vary even in AWGN channel ?
