The 12 V power supply such as Laptop charger or adapter shows around 17.5V in my 2 multimeter(Analog + Digital) as well as in our lab oscilloscope where rated 12V.
Now i want to connect it with a 12V geared motor. Is any problem to connect it across these adapter.I also tried it using another 12V normal dc motor for 5 minutes. No problem yet.

Can i use 9V battery for the 12V geared motor.

no man!!
there must not be any problem..:-?

i have also been using laptop chargers for geared motors but never faced any serious problems except that the motor rotates at a greater speed than specified.
thats due to current rating(3.5A in case of laptop charger).

No , no problem in these equipments as i say there are 12V in laptop batteries so it needs much voltage then 12V.
But is it need 17.5V ?

i did not get exactly what you want to ask but there is still 1 question that i would like to ask you..
all laptop chargers are rated either 17.5V or 18.5V & 3.5A

how come your adapter has 12V as rated supply???

yea!!
you can use 9V supply for a 12V geared motor. you wont face any problem in your motor but your motor will rotate at a lower speed
but you can overcome that limitation by using a 2A or 3A supply for a 9V battery
