best microcontrollers

Anyone has experience with the best ucontroller for battery powered application?
lowest power consumption. I need it to do PWM modulation of a LED.
microchip, TI, or ATMEL AVR? which one should I choose? Running at 1mips should be good enough.

best low power microcontrollers compare

By increasing power requirements : MSP430, PIC16x, AVR. But MSP430 has weaker outputs

picowatt microcontroller

Go for PICAXE-08(M) ..
It has PWM BASIC command and runs of ≥ 3V battery ..

BTW: 1mpis for LED PWM ???

very low power consumption pic micro

I would add ARM to the list. They have a slightly smaller power consumption that the PICs, but they have much more features and computational power. IMHO, they have the best horsepower/consumtion ratio among all microcontrollers.

msp430 vs lpc2378

Joking ? You mean greater consumption ?

picowatt atmel

I need about 1 MIPS, 1 or 2 AA battery operation. 18-24 PINS.
Need PWM. 4Mhz-8Mhz.
That bad thing about PIC is 1/4 clock cycle.
I like the AVR, but they are just releasing their PICOWATT version. And they don't have 20pin version.
Never worked with TI MSP430,

Never worked with TI MSP430,

TI MSP430F20xx series has improved performance in terms of power & operating speed over their old MSP430Fxx9 family devices. Also u ll get 18-24 pin devices.
I would say best option for u to go for..

Code:
MSP430F2xx – This new family of flash-based MCUs feature even lower power and up to 16MIPS with 1.8 to 3.6V operation. Additional enhancements include an integrated ±2% digitally controlled oscillator (DCO), a very-low power oscillator (VLO), internal pull-up/pull-down resistors and increased number of analog inputs. Available in low-pin count options.

power consumption pwm avr

Hi

If power consumption is your concern then choose TI MSP430 you can also choose MAXIM MAXQ new familiy of controller but this controller can't provide 4~8 MHZ PWM signal

Whether PWM and power consumption is your concern choose ST STR75x ARM7 best new family of micro controller or LPC21xx or LPC23xx

All the best

Bobi
