Tcp client code doesn't work when using cross cable for connection

I am doing tcp client project using arm proccessor with uclinux.
my tcpclient.c code working when I use switch-hub to connect to server.But can't work when I use cross cable to connect.what do you think about this.

Are you sure your cross cable is correct? To make sure, use that cable two connect two computer directly.

Connect your device to a computer, and use Ethereal to monitor what happen on the Ethernet bus.
