i need to design a microstrip bandpass filter for Ku band frequency range
the resonant frequency is designed at 12.5GHz while the bandwidth should be in the Ku range 11.7-14.5GHz
my question is does the PCB substrate FR-4 suitable for designing microstrip filters for high frequency range that i would be working on ? any suggestions for other substrates with optimum high frequency performance and with least loss ? thanks

FR4 at Ku band - NO! NO! NO!

Use Rogers

or Taconic

There are other manufacturers, these are only the ones I have used, everyone has their favourite.

Choose a material that suits your cost, size and loss constraints.

Also consider the processing. PTFE laminates are not eay to process they are potentially very dimensionally unstabe during PCB maufacture. It is not as easy as an FR4 process.

Many DBS Ku LMB vendors use Rogers 4003 at this frequency
