hi,

lef file is given as an input to SOC encounter is it same technology file which we give input to the layout tool like virtuoso.

i am right now working on encounter and didnt yet worked on virtuoso but working on other layout tool i.e L-edit ........., where we used to give a technology file as a input....hmm seems that was .ext format, am i rgt???????????

so my Q is r these 2 files same if not whats the difference, and what file format is given as an input for virtuoso then...

thanks in advance,
Prasad

lef file??

yes it must be same technology.
all r different format with different information it carries
lef file contains only metal layer information with RC values and routing information like delays with repective metal layers.

dont confuse with any other tools. u must read the cadence design flow first. then only u can understand all.
try to download documents from http:crete.cadence.com
bye
