propic2 can automatically identify the chip inserted? help!!

winpic800 using propic2

am using propic2 v2. if i insert wrong chip otherthan configured in the software, will it destroy the chip? or is the software verifies that the right chip is inserted and then start programming?

don't worry you can't destroy the chip.
The software verify only that the firmware it the same :D

Only PICKit can identify the device ...

Hi,
I'm not sure, but propic2 don't read ID from the chip. Propic2 read only the response at the programming sequence, so you can destroy your chip.
If you want a programmer who's verifying ID before program look at www.kitsrus.com

I have Propic2 hardware and i use WinPic800, this software can identify the chip inserted before start to programming.

hi valajor,

tanx for ur valuable info about the new programmer software that can be used with propic2 hardware. i ve downloaded the zip file using ur link. but i am little bit confused with a lot of hardware configurations for selecting a perticular hardware.

since i am using propic2 (NOT GOLD) hardware, i ve selected the hardware as propic2. but i couldnt erase, read, detect etc using that.

i ll be so happy if u could help me by providing the Printer port pin settings for vpp1,vpp2,vpp3.etc.

Also i found that in winpic800, they are not using vpp3. instead an ICSP pin they have mentioned. am sending u the circuit iam using for propic2 for ur king reference.
