Hi guyz

This is sathish.I am new to this forum.I am entry level user of cadence allegro.I would like to know whether we can design a padstack with surface pad attached to a via(by shoting) as a single pad.

Please help me .

Yes, it can be done, as via defined in padstack & SMD pad at the surface as
shape symbol.
 

There is no need to define surface pad as shape you can easiliy attach via in to sm pad in drawing file in symbol creation.

If padstack is to be created as .pad file, then it can be done as I had told only.
If symbol creation is sufficient, then what is told by majnoon is correct.

Not quite you can attach through hole (via) to .pad file without using shape.
In fact you can attach many holes to any given pad stack in .pad file.
