Power output of a Microinverter

Energy source are usually describe through power outputs, just want to know are these power outputs refers to the RMS values? or the peak values? Like for example the 250W microinverter? is the 250W the peak value (Ppeak = V(peak-ac)*I(peak-ac))? thanks..
 

True power is always the RMS value, and refers to real in phase resistive watts.

Some inverters have square wave outputs, but its still the RMS value that is important for power measurement.

Meaning there is no phase difference between the current and the voltage?
 

Then the average power for what is used for ?
Sometimes used with pulsed or irregular waveforms for such things as heat sink calculations.

Average power might be very different to RMS power with high crest factor waveforms that are not necessarily ac.

That is right if its true power, which it will be if its measured in watts.
VA's refer to out of phase reactive power.
