Introduction to analog communication

Hello everyone. I'm on holidays and wanting to get into analog communication, to see if that is the area I want to specialize in the next few years.

My objective for the next few days is to understand and make a communication between two devices (transmitter and receiver), and I need to know if there is any book that is the best for this purpose or any website. I searched a lot and didn't found what I need (I just found some very basic receivers or transmitters but using iPods or things like that).

I'm now reading "Elements of Information Theory", by Cover-Thomas, but I don't know if that is the most appropriate book.

Any help will be very welcome.

My idea is to make something like a walkie talkie, but with a long range (if it's possible), analog (it has to be analog) and to understand everything I'm doing
 

Hello everyone. I have been reading for 4 days about walkie talkies but I couldn't find what I'm looking for.

I found most of the walkie talkies working in, approximately, 27MHz. I suppose that's to not have any interference with fm radios.

I couldn't find any tutorial of book where there's any perfect explanation. Am I missing anything? I have to make a report about any analog design, and I would love to do it of walkie talkies and wireless communication, but with this information I can't.
I found some projects without inductors. It would be perfect without inductors.

EDIT: I found everyone saying "you use this here because it works", and I need more "scientific" explanation, do you understand?

It has nothing to do with FM radio. The 27 MHz band is allocated for mobile, e.g. CB radio.
 

So my supposition was wrong
 

You must learn that there are laws that prevent people like you from causing interference to important emergency communications (ambulance, police, aircraft and others). There are almost no frequencies available for you to use for your long range analog communications because long range requires high power and the maximum allowed power is very low unless you have a licence to transmit on a certain frequency using a certified transmitter. The certified transmitter will not cause interference on many harmonic frequencies that maybe your design will cause.

27MHz was or maybe still is used for low power children's cheap walkie talkies. Better walkie talkies are FRS and GMRS (look at them in Google) and use FM on UHF frequencies.

I have been reading a lot about GMRS and FRS and that would be absolutely perfect, but I also think that would be impossible for me to do without any tutorial. Is there anyone available?
