Need Help. Can any one tell me any Ic which can work as relay.I'm the manufacturer of power supply , we use 12v 5pin relay in "Battery Backup Power Supply" for switching.Normally Relay takes some seconds for switching which is ok for camera. But not for Fire Control and Access Systems. Some how we found solution by replacing relay with Doide. But problem comes when load is given, the diode drops charging current whereas relay don't do this.Therefor i need any ic which can work similarly to 12v Relay for fast switching.

Do a internet search for Solid State Relay. You will get a lot of hits, they come in a wide range of sizes and prices.
They are typically based on MOSFETs, I would assume you are familiar with MOSFETs as switches if you are building power supplies.

Relays usually have around 4ms switching. Can you explain more Fire Control and Access System, what speed in this you need ?

Best regards,
Peter

A Solid state relay may solve your issue. Please go through the link..

Thks all for your reply. The device which you have suggested is used for generating votlage as i have seen on net.but i need a device which can switch/take
electrical power from main line to battery when light goes off in no time.where as relay takes 4ms.

Thks for your post.I'll try to work on it and then let you know once i'll find this device in Old Delhi Market.

Dear Peter

I don't know exact speed of Fire Alarm system as my customers are using different kinds of systems, but the problem arises when my "battery backup power supply" switches
from main supply to battery, during switching period some fire control system starts giving alarm and this happened because of relay.Therefor instead of relay we have started using Diode and this is working perfectly , this diode switch from main to battery in no time when power goes off. But the main problem is the charging current of battery from 200 ms reduces to 100ms because of diode whereas this problem doesn't come in relay. .

Use diode instead relay for this purpose, voltage of psu must be higher than battery voltage. Diode should be Schottky diode with lower voltage drop, and not standard diode.

I didnt understand this :

What is relation between current and time ? Charging current ?

Best regards,
Peter

you can use a L298N IC
which could be used for 12v to 50v either ac o dc on output side, and the input is 5v
hope this helps :)

Dear Peter

I'm already using Diode instead of Relay but the problem is during charging process the voltage of charging current drops from 250mil amp to 130 mil amp.
For Better Explanation
The power supply which i'm selling is used for 12V CCTV cameras which also work as battery backup. Therefor we use relay in this supply. But as you know the relay takes some time for switching from main line to battery when power goes off.
My new customer is using some kind of programming device which he is going to be installed in a factory, this device is very important for him as it cannot be turned off even for sec.We have tested this device with our power supply and its working fine until switching process starts. This device turned off during switching process from main line to battery. Its because of relay.Therefor now we have started using diode MBR 200CT.After using this now the device is working perfectly. But the problem persist in charging process, we have set charging current at 250mil amp but coz of diode the charging current drops from 250 to 130 mil amp.
