Which routing is better?

Hello,

I encounter a problem that a set of memory bus signals are very long on the board, and my friend suggest me to use the type a routing, he said the long parallel wire will cause crosstalk. But I think type a is longer than type b , and will cause voltage drop.

Which type of routing do you prefer? And when you encounter this problem, what good method will you adopt?

Regards,

Davy Zhu

Re: Which routing is better?

As you said "b" is shorter and also preferable if the length of trace should be maintained short.

Re: Which routing is better?

To minimise crosstalk, there are a few really simple rules:

* Increase spacing. Many routing tools have a default spacing setting of about 1W. 2W is better and 3W may be the sweet spot.
* Make sure that your traces are routed over a continuous ground plane!
* If you are routing a bus on two signal layers on top of each other, make sure your signals are staggered.
