Hi All,

I am working as consultant and i am required to design a new DSP board using the TI DM8xx processor. I have done design and simulation using the Altium for ARM9 Samsung S3C24xx, LPC 22xx processors but this DSP hardware design is new to me. I don't know how to proceed in this as i am doing this design for very first time. I would appreciate if people could share some information on the DSP hardware design like tools used, reference designs, etc...

Regards
Gowtham

Hi gowthamn,
Some time back i worked on the same processor family, But that was DM3730, but the series that you specified is an advanced version in the line of DaVinci Media Processors, so to start off with i would say you look into a reference design based on DM3730 you would just need to add a little more effort to translate that into your work.

Reference Design, i hope you are familiar with Beagleboard, so fortunately these guys have made one version of beagleboard using DM3730, Check out -- https://beagleboard.org/hardware/design/
Its called "BeagleBoard-xM" you can download all related design files study the complete hardware architecture, i would suggest you to look into their hardware as well as their reference manual as they clearly explained each and every circuit that they have used in this board.

I Hope this helps.
