difference between printed antenna and wired antenna

hi,can any body help me in understanding what is difference in designing of printed circuit and wired antenna?and what is basic difference between these two antenna functions
 

It all depends on the application in my opinion. For example a printed dipole will perform very similarly to a wire dipole antenna.
