need help in designing slot antenna

hi,
iam a new one in antenna deisging can anyone help me in making understand how to select different physical parameter e.g length and width of slot to make it to work in a specfic band,if any one has some reading material related to it then plzzz share it with me
 

which type of slot do u want to design ?????
 

Select your frequency correctly, by having 500 GHz, your design would be scaled down to micometers and even less. To begin with you can study a beautiful book by IJ Bhal on antenna theory, then refer to internet, there is a huge resource and paper work available freely, just you need to google for slot antennas.
 

u sure 500 GHz ? or is it 500 MHz ?

yh i want to design double slot antenna having frequency band 500GHz-800GHz because i want to use it in making terahertz detector therefore this frequency band is required
 

so how u want to simulation and design it did u think that???? i saw some resonator for optical detection but slot antenna structure looking impossible

i have studied some papers in which they have used double slot antenna working in this band .i am also confused how to design for this frequency range,i attach a paper with it please check it and plz guide me it will be a great favour.

as the paper told that antenna at 100GHz but u ask for 500GHz and its too much and we unable to test at this frequency but 100 GHz its possible to design and test as they did in mems labs

Why?

I'm not working in that frequency range, but looking at the new IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology, it seem that the antenna structures are not much different from mm-wave antennas (e.g. bowtie).

i am a new one in field of antenna designing so can you plz tell why do you think that its not possible for this antenna to work in 500GHz -800GHz band i-e what are the factors which restricts an antenna to work on higher frequancy range also if use folded double slot antenna then it will work in this range?plz tell me some basic techniques in antenna designing

can you plz tell me is mm wave antenna have some different structure from other antenna??
 

If you are new to antennas, I would advice you start off with GSM / UMTS or ISM (2.4GHz / 5.8GHz) bands rather jump to 500GHz wherein the design gets too complicated and may not be realizable as well.

Also 500 - 800GHz BW means 50% approx and is not easy to achieve.

How do you test antennas in that range anyways, anybody ?
