One common cable tv provider is Comcast in the USA.

I've had two types of set-top boxes. Both needed to be activated from central headquarters, in order for me to watch any channels. Both show only the channels in my level of service. More channels means I must pay more money.

The smaller box has basic capability. Channel up-down.

The larger box has greater command availabilities. Program guide and pay-per-view. It has the name Cisco (a top name in computer networking technology).

At the back is a label "Multi-stream cable card". Also a label showing a MAC number.

For a while there were some tv sets that were 'cable-card-ready'. You would install a cable card which you obtained from the cable tv provider.

Try Cisco Systems and/or Motorola Mobility. Several years ago, Cisco purchased Scientific Atlanta, who was at the time one of the largest manufacturers of set-top boxes and head-end equipment for CATV. I'm sure the product offerings have advanced tremendously since the acquisition. Another big name was General Instrument, who was acquired by Motorola some time back and is now part of Motorola Mobility. They should also have end-to-end solutions. Sorry, but I don't have any information of any office in India.
