Hi all,
I am trying to burn a PIC18LF25K80 using JDM programmer. I made some modifications in the circuit, ie I used 3.2v zener + 56E resistor to reduce the Vdd to 3.2V.
Also I used resistor voltage divider to cut short the Vpp from 13.5 volt to 6V. Now the PICPGM is detecting the PIC18LF25K80 after doing above modifications..

Now I programmed the chip for first time. Later I couldn't erase the code in the chip and always showing verification error. But the chip is detecting always.... Also the particular PIC is little bit different from others because it doesn't have a PGM pin ... Its LVP is little bit different, any way I am trying for HVP...

Any solution other than the PICKIT ?

Or any one tried to mod the existing JDM programmer to adapt it with PIC18'LF' type microcontrollers ?

Why do you need to use that K series of chips ?

Is there not a comparable chip that can be programmed with a JDM ?

Many 'standard' chips will run fine at lower voltages.

I am already having few 18LF chips... So I am trying to program it using a simple programmer
...thats all...

With the amount of design work you have done with PICs, frankly I'm surprised you haven't invested or built a full featured PICkit clone.

Other than continue on the path of modifying your existing programmer there is most likely not another solution or than a genuine PICkit or full featured clone.

I learned from experience that the investment in the correct tools can save oneself hours of wasted time.

Of course, if this is an educational experience have at it.

You might also keep an eye on the following link, Microchip is current offering PICkit 3s to the Chinese market for $13.99 USD.

The site posts excellent deals on Microchip gear regularly.

I would recommend finding a design which is an exact copy in function of the geniune Microchip PICkit with all of its features.

Many of the "clones" are in fact a very limited design which may create issues concerning support for some of the newer devices.
