Hi,

I am absolute beginner in ASIC, FPGA and computer architecture. I have taken a computer architecture this fall, i find it tough becoz i am beginner but it is also not that difficult, so i am taking it up as challenge to learn all this three stuffs.. I need proper guidance, and want to do some beginner level projects in this fields.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Sumeet

I would start learning about digital logic design first. Designing hardware on FPGA/ASICs is going to be very tough if you don't have the basic skills down. I would start with a book like Digital Logic and Microprocessor Design with VHDL by Enoch Hwang, it's one of the best books I've read. His explanations are very clear, he uses examples to discuss designs and common pitfalls, and most important writes in a unique style that doesn't put you to sleep.

Start with a good foundation, it will save you time and trouble in the long run (and make things more enjoyable).

Hi,

1-First of all you should had a good understanding of digital logic elements and their working.
2-After this,Choose a language for instance HDL or VHDL and start learning it.
3-Implement logic hardware elements in software using above language and write simulations codes to check the results.
4-Finally,implement those small codes on hardware like FPGA/Asic

If you are planning to study Verilog HDL, I recommend you to study Samir Palnithkar.
Digital design can alone be get mastered through Mori s Manno.
For ASIC and FPGA flow , internet is best source. Search in Google leads you to get pictorial representation of Flows.
And about architecture , as a beginner , you can take Spartan 2 series from Xilinx and study.
All the best.
