Post schematic and code please, also tell us which compiler you are using.

Hi,
I faced such problem in one of my microcontroller project and i found two bits on data bus short circuited. i tried to open the shorted data lines by removing chips one by one finally i found two pins on UVprom got shot circuited.

Post your schematic and code. Also, what's your power source? LCD gliches may be caused by high ripple due to insufficient current capability of power supply or insufficient filtering.
