i want to interface parallel port printer with microchip MCP23017 I/O expander, i need to know i wants to use any pullup or series resistance between printer and I/O exapnder, can any one help me how to interface parallel printer with this I/O expander.
 

you must read up on parallel port first, some pins are input and others are outputs..also what printer are you trying to interface ??
