send message with cell phone threw usb with AT command

hi,
am working on project with i made communication between pic 18f4550 and my PC and it works, the code is written in C under MPLAB
now my application send a data witch is a number and i had to monitor that number if it's >30 then pic will send a message to cell phone
my problem is that a have no idea about the modem GSM and the code olso the connection to pic
is any body have an idea
 

i search in forum and i found that the connection with modem is in serial port
also i found that often the code is for pic 16F and the UART library
i really wanna know if i can use USART it's possible or no because pic 18F don't have UART but
they have USART and am programming in mplab with c18 compiler
 

am gonna connect modem directly to the pic and i gonna use the USART library of C18



need to know if my connection is right and what code in C under mplab should i write to send a sms from pic 18f4550 to modem(for example motherboard of nokia 3310 modem)
