I need 8086 system on a chip, compatible with IBM PC, which can run DOS and its application unmodified.

Is there such a chip, or should it be done with FPGA. If it has to be done with FPGA I would prefer to have 3-chip system: 8086, FPGA , 1 megabyte SRAM.

I need it to replace aging IBM PC XT compatible computer on education institution.

Thank you
Toni

interesting!!! Well I am aware of small form factor 386(IA32 boards 3.5 inch) available from iBase.
If it helps....

Have you tried Virtualbox or a similar software solution?
Virtualbox is free.
