dc-dc 12v to 200v

I want to design a simple dc/dc regulator from 12V ( or 24V ) to 200V/1A

Do you have any suggestions?

Flyback on 24v will be possible. Input current will be too high on 12v (+20A with 80% eff)
Flyback type not suitable much above the 200W level.

8) use Pushpull topology with current mode control, (UC3846)

for applicatoins like this, i.e. high power step-up convertors with low inputs (which means large currents at input stage!) push-pull and full-bridge is the best solution but the push-pull suffers from several drawbacks like transformer saturation; to solve the problem current mode control is a MUST.
the problem in full-bridge also exist but can be solved with a DC-Decoupling capacitor in series with the transformer's input or current mode control.

Push-Pull is suitable topology for it.
and you can reference with ups or other inverter schematics.

I still prefer the flyback over the Push-Pull

Reasons:

a)The 200W limit (I have done a 500W with a few tricks) is within the reach of modern MOSFETS current wise when operating on 24VDC. (I won't go to 12V)
b) The flyback transformer construction is more simple. When operating at fairly high frequencies when you need only a few turn's on the prim, and as anybody will know that actually wound some push-pull transformers and used copper foil windings, getting a nice construction while keeping the center tapped windings balanced, as well as minimizing leakage inductances, winding resistances, insulation ...well you only know once you actually done it.
c) The flyback is inherently short-circuit proof.
d) Snubber is simple if you need one. (Push-Pull, you must be careful)
e) It needs no output inductor. Output inductor (which must sustain high voltage) also places extra caution on the diode selection on the push-pull sec side for high reverse voltages.
f) No need for HV free wheeling diode
g) You don't need any fancy control schemes
h) Better chance of first time success for the novice.

OK, you need a bigger output cap as with the other topologies but that is a small price to pay

another simple, yet powerful arcitecture for this application is dual interleaved flyback, refer to pressman book for more info.
the topology does not suffer from core saturation and large inductor at the output but the current stress of switches is high; to relax current stress of switches, u can design them in continous mode with a little narrower band width of the loop.

How about switching regulators? The output voltage of the switching regulator depends on the duty cycle of the driving pulse. Higher duty cycle results in higher output voltage and vice versa.
