i want a schematic for converting a 24v battery dc to 19v dc 3A supply. seems am going to use regulators and or adjustable IC! pls help.

The typical circuit for LM317 will not be enough because it can give 1.5A max.
There is a second schematic in the LM317 datasheet called high current adjustable regulator.
You can also use an LM350 which is rated for 3A.

you can use pwm regulator if you want to low the wastage (24-19)*3 =15W

Hi snazzy,

Go for any switching regulator, it gives a good efficiency, since you are operating with battery power efficiency comes the first priority,

LM317 are called as LDO regulators whose efficiency will be less.
and heat up with little more current also...

go ti.com or onsemi, you may find switching regulators forthis purpose....

you don't neeed to work anything other than just follow the reference design provided by IC datasheet it really works...

thanks
babesh...

pls can you explain more on the pwm regulator(s).
