Hi all,

Can someone clarify how to determine the radiation mode in a Dipole Antenna. I know that the Dipole can be analyzed in the Even and Odd mode, but how can you determine which mode is actually radiating?

Thanks!

what is the meaning of Even or Odd mode for dipole antennas?

agreed, thats a new one on me, have you got a reference/quote for us to read and maybe learn something ??
In the many many dipoles I have built for many different freqs its not something I have ever been told that I need to worry about and all my dipoles have worked well :)
either stand alone ones or those embedded in yagi antennas

Hi All,

Thanks for looking. To clarify, I meant a folded Dipole Antenna. A Reference to the Odd/Even mode is found here:

Why is the Even mode the radiation Mode?

Even and Odd are excitation modes, and not radiation modes.
The second document provides well explanations about these modes.
