i am trying to perform hspice simulation for a layout named fourbit_addr_layout.sp

what does the following warning in Magic layout mean:
" Using: /bin/time /import/cadence/ic/tools/dfII/sparc0S5/hspice fourbit_addr_layout.sp
warning: ridiculously long PATH truncated"

Re: Magic Layout warning

it appears that the directory path exceeds the limit.
but you can check it.

it is not clear from your messgae , whether you have extracted spice model from layout or the error message is during extraction with magic.

Re: Magic Layout warning

i am getting the warning when i run the hspice using the .sp file and hence not able to generate the .tr0 file for simulation. What do i have to do to check the directory path as this has not happened in my previous simulations?

Re: Magic Layout warning

check whether the directory "/bin/time" has any additional space as:
"/bin/time "

This is just the UNIX time report facility, either "on" by default, or called extra by
% time hspice ...

/bin/time /import/cadence/ic/tools/dfII/sparc0S5/hspice fourbit_addr_layout.sp
warning: ridiculously long PATH truncated"

I think the hspice program will be found in your searchpath anyway, so you could call
% (time) hspice fourbit_addr_layout.sp

... so you don't need to specify this "ridiculously long PATH".
Anyway, it's only a (ridiculous) warning, and doesn't prevent the simulation.
