I want to implement an active noise cancellation algorithm to minimize noise from machines. I have chosen the dsPIC starter kit DM330011 with audio codec with am max sampling freq of 48kHz . Since I am not handling speech, will the compression-decompression be necessary? What is the significance of these processes?

Should the on-board audio codec be used only for speech?

I want to avoid as many stages as possible since speed is a very important criterion in my project since it requires processing of streaming audio (noise from the machine is continuously recorded).

Is this kit a good choice?
