I know it is really about Pspice, but it is very similar to Hspice - I always liked the Paul W Tuinenga book. I leads you through it very well (at least my third edition from 1995 did).
yep, Hispice User Guide is very helpful but too many pages, and there is no need to read it through.
you can get it started with simulating your simple circuits and turn to "user guide" when you meet a problem.
