What is the spacing between each guard trace and a critical signal?

While routing, a critical signal (example - clock) is between the guard traces. What is the spacing between each guard trace and critical signal? Is it equivalent to 3W rule?

Can the ends of the guard traces be connected to the ground plane (reference) through vias only?
