LM386N

Hey Guys,
I am trying to amplify an audio signal from a birthday card audio player (A96020) with a LM386N, and all I have been getting is noise, it wont actually play the recording it just plays noise. I think the problem is that I need a pre-amp, if so, I would like to know how to go about building one. Thanks

Re: LM386N

I doubt a pre-amp would solve your problem, the signal from card sound generators is usually too high, not too low.

Can you post a diagram of how you have it connected.

Brian.

Re: LM386N

This is the voice recording module (https://www.electronics123.net/amazon/datasheet/A96020.pdf) The speaker output from this is going to the input of this amp (https://www.electronics123.net/amazon/datasheet/k17.pdf) the output of this amp is going to a 3" 8 ohm speaker. Both devices are powered by 5v

Hey Guys, I figured out what what was wrong. I had the output wires from the sound recorder going into what was suppose to be a ground terminal. I got it working but the sound quality is terrible. Any tips on getting the sound better (less static)

Assuming you no longer have a loudspeaker directly connected to the sound module, wire a resistor, I suggest 47Ω where the loudspeaker used to connect to (where you are now taking sound to the LM386 from).

The reason: Without it's original load, the sound module may be misbehaving.

it may be that the speaker terminals of a96020 is floating and not wrt ground.
check the output speaker terminals for its gnd connectivity.

The gain of LM386 will be increased if a 1Mfd capacitor is connected between Pin 1 and 8. You may first try removing it and then try to play. IF you still have noise, try droping the signal level using a volume control in between the card player an dthe amplifier.
