What is the difference between general purpose and PFC capcitors. Why not a normal capacitor being used in a Ceiling fan etc. can be used for PFC? What means KVAR rating on PFC Capacitors.

Thanks all in advance.

PFC caps are going to need to be full-time, high current
rated while your "starting capacitors" are only exposed
to intermittent duty. Low internal resistance and good
thermal design, for openers.

kilo-volts-amps-reactive I believe the acronym stands for.
Or load kW. Though just -how- reactive (inductive), might be
a concern or differentiator, spec-wise.
