i m trying to make 10 characters 8x8 led matrix scrolling display i m confused by using shift registers . i think parallel in parallel out shift register 74hc573 is more fast performance upon serial in parallel out shift register 74hc595 i know 74hc53 require more lines but i need smooth scrolling . hav any other disadvantages using this ic please post here
 

you d better post ur schematic diagram
