hi
now i am having my fyp which is wireless announcement board. due to i am totally new on 74HC595 so i hope that someone can guide me how to use this chip to scroll the message by using 5x7 dot matrix.

74hc595 is a shift register having storage for 16 bits. 8 for input buffer and 8 output buffer. You need to connect clock, output enable and data line along with shift register and then on each clock one bit will be inserted in the input data buffer and on active low output enable. this information will be trasnsffered to outpout data buffer and you will be getting 8 output with one data line.

thank a lot narindia16 for replying me.... regarding to my fyp ,can i send 8 bit to the serial input and the bits will be transferred to the first output pin by sending 8 time bit by bit, then only shirt the 8 bit to second pin??? and the connection will be 5 output pin shift register to the column of the dot matrix and 7 pin to my PIC.
