how to get started with vhdl

how're you guys?

I just wanna get some help from you, I'm actually good at digital design
I mean using the block diagram but as everyone knows, we should be good
at VHDL in order to be good designers. Moreover, I'm goona take a course
related to VHDL designing in a year, however, I wanna improve myself
in this field from now. So would you please help me get started with this sweet language?

thank you in advance ...

embedded matlab fsm

start with RTL hardware design, needs some work to go on , but good .

Why not to have a look for embedded matlab subset? you could write embedded codes and try it many times then convert to VHDL automatically with acceptable efficiency?

Thank you very much pal
but I don't know how to get started with the RTL itself
I mean do you have any specific website you suggest me to use in order to learn VHDL?

about embedded matlab subset, it's a great idea, however, do you have any website that would help me get started with designing using matlab subset?

I really appreciate that ....

You can try RTL Hardware Design Using VHDL by Pong Chu. This is a very good book for beginners and that helped me a lot to clear RTL concepts.
Otherwise sites like opencores.org , you will get codes which you can try. But in RTL there is nothing like practicing yourself.
Start with simple combinational and sequential ckts and later move on to FSM, FSMD and then design some simple protocols like SPI, UART etc.
Install Xilinx ISE webpack, Modelsim keep the book open and practice...

All the best.

I really appreciate that and I'm gonna do what you said... plus I've got lots of books about VHDL such as
Fundamentals of Digital Logic with VHDL Design and Circuit Design with VHDL...I'm gonna read them all to get acquainted with VHDL

you could use simulink HDL coder tutorial to go on for embedded programming,
also many demos in matlab.
