UWB Antenna bandwidth - how to use partial ground plane?

UWB Antenna bandwidth

Hi all;
To design UWB antenna, we use some technics, such as: partial ground plane, bevels, slots...
Please, can any one, explain why and how the use of partial ground plane (cut the ground plane) can increase the bandwidth of antenna.
Also, how slots affect the bandwidth of UWB antennas.
