The best LPE tools is xcalibre or drcula .

Re: The best LPE tools ?

"Calibre is the GOLDEN suite", this is what I heard.

Re: The best LPE tools ?

xcalibre is 3D extract engine, it extract value ( capacitor and resistor) is
more accurate. and use in process 2.5u -- 1.3u

dracula is 2D extract engine, use in 3.5u -- 1u process

Re: The best LPE tools ?

Unix
xcalibre > StarRC_xt > Cadence LPE /diva ..

PC
ledit ??

Re: The best LPE tools ?

Where to find the doc for xcalibre ?

Re: The best LPE tools ?

As I know calibre is more accurate due to semi-3d extraction technology which also provides high speed results.
but cadence tools like dracula have another plus: they are all integrated in the same environment thus is simple to use and there is no need to switch between several tools!
also i have heared that cadence tools can not handle MIM-Capacitors truely but i have no idea about calibre.

BEST!

calibre also can be easily integrated in to cadence environment, just update you .cdsinit according the manual. then you can get a pull-down menu of calibre in virtuoso layout editor, you can even perform online drc error check with virtuoso layout editor.

Calibre is powerfully than dracula.

Any LPE tools can handle power traces very well?

How about Assura? I just used cadence tools diva, dracula and assura. Diva is very slow for full-chip extraction. I do not have parasitic extraction file for dracula. I just use dracula for final LVS and DRC. Assura is much faster than the others. It can extract parasitic inductance and reduce parasitic RC network, although it is a beta feature under testing. It also has 3D extraction engine. Our license can only support RC-extraction. I have no experience with the advanced features of Assura.

I recently encountered a problem related to MIM-Capacitor extraction with cadence LPE tool. My tool is Assura3.1. The pre- and post-layout simulation have a large difference. I found that it is attributed to MIM-Capacitors. I modified my design according to the post-layout simulation. The chip is under fabrication. After test, I will get the evaluation of the performance of Assura.

The calibre xrc is the new extraction tool.
Because xcalibre has some bugs and extraction too slow.

Re: The best LPE tools ?

calibre rcx is a hierarchical rc extraction tool. It is fast to do the RC extraction. However, all the hierarchical rcx tool have the accuracy problem. You need to turn on the flat mode to get the accurate extracted data, especially for analog design.

Re: The best LPE tools ?

Do someone has experience with calibre and Assura 3.1?
Which one is more accurate? and which one is the fastest?

Take care.

The best LPE tools ?

I hear Assura is the same as calibre. Both can extract LPE netlist for hierarchy. But the netlist extracted from dracula is flatten.

Re: The best LPE tools ?

From my own experiences I think xcalibre is quite ok except that the extracted netlist is not so readable and user-friendly.

I also heard Star RC is pretty good for RC extraction but the price is also kind of high.

Re: The best LPE tools ?

Assura can extract inductance and mutual inductance.
calibre only RC extract.
I think Assura for RF design, Calibra for mixmode design.

The best LPE tools ?

I do lvs and drc with calibre,it works well. fast and friendly. it is very easier to find mistakes than dracula.
I tried xcalibre, but it didn't work.
can anyone tell me how to use the tool?
