pic18f4520 programmer

i need serial programmer circuit digram for pic18f4520.

pg3b winpic setting

What do you mean by "serial"?

All the PICs use serial programming protocol.

If you don't have any PIC programmer, your best bet would be a simple programmer through serial or parallel ports. Google for JDM (serial port) or Schaer+/PG3B/EPIC programmer (parallel ports). I have tested both JDM (my variant) and Schaer+ (my variant) with PIC18F4520.

Cheers,

i tried **broken link removed** (**broken link removed**) circuit with winpic. the programmer shows activity but pic is not detected. should i provide external power power to pic. is there any problem with db9 cable ( connections may be pin to pin) . 13v also appears on mclr/Vpp pin. i am not using any xtal.

Just use the JDM2 programmer (search it on google)

thats all you need.

Cable may be too long. Try a shorter cable.

Also, Some computers (especially laptops) have serial ports that can't supply enough power for JDM to work properly. If that is the case, you will have to build a parallel port or USB powered programmer.

Different software may also help. WinPic is good, but does not work well for some chips. I use WinPic800.

You do not need to power the chip or use a crystal unless you are programming via ICSP.
