I tried this question in the digital communications forum, but there were no takers.

I was contacted about a job that entails working on a digital baseband (wireless protocol is not significant). I have no experience in this area and was wondering what type of functionality exists on this type of chip. Is it DSP?

Thanks,
unless I don't see any response :)

Re: digital baseband

In general you could expect to work on a chip that takes in samples from an ADC on one end and hands out digital data in some format on the other side and vice versa. In between, you could have lots of DSP for synch, equalisation, filtering, FFT, cancellation.., plus some amount of digital circuits for ECC, framing, CRC..

digital baseband

Thank you for the feedback. I was starting to think that nobody here ever worked on a baseband chip before and that they must be designed by elves in a magical kingdom. :)

Re: digital baseband

digital base band is concerned with the symbolset u use for a paticular modulation format irrespective of the carrier frequency used.
