Dear Experts ,

Iam into a designing of core IP and sucessfully completed it using verilog
and functional verification is done using Modelsim se 6.0.

My IP core has 5 main modules of which I synthesized 1 module using xilinx ISE 8.1i demo version and the gatecount was something around 122k

Now i want to synthesize the whole code..and i guess the gate count would be in lakhs..

My DOUBT is :Which synthesis tool i should purchase to proceed further.......

AS my target is to go for FPGA prototyping....(porting on to FPGA)
(Iam working on windows xp platform)

Re:Synthesis Help

All synthesis tools have their own advantages. I use xst from xilinx and it seems ok to my projects and resource usage limitations....Some others may have exp on different tools. Let's wait and see....

Re:Synthesis Help

Quite honesty (and here is a view you wont hear too often) I wouldn’t bother.

IMO the synthesis tool only improves matters if you’ve made a hash of the design, when I design something it look exactly the same if you run it through a vendor tool or a 3rd party tool. (sorry if that sounds arrogant, it not supposed to, its just a statement of fact).

You say you’re using IP, if the IP you’ve bought differs significantly when you change synthesis tools, buy you IP cores from elsewhere is my advice!

Bob

P.S just re-read your post, just to clarify are you using IP cores or writing them?

Re:Synthesis Help

@ Engineer_Bob
iam writing code..
and i am using xilinx ise 8.1i demo version ....
and thats the reason i had a doubt....
i thought i would get some expert advice...
before investing on any tool...thats it

Added after 20 minutes:

From
MentorGraphics.com we have Precision,
from Symlicity.com, it hasSynplify-Pro.
Xilinx.com has XST
amd Altera,com, Quartus tool, etc.

i heard that
Xilinx's and Altera's tools are ok too but they are not optimized
when comparing to Precision or Synplify-Pro.

so i was in little confusion
