openacces import df

What is the difference between Open Access & DF-II database?.. How these differs from each other?.

open access database cadence

Open access is something where u want to switch over to encounter 4.1 to 4.1 or some other version then u no need to go and import the design once again( which happens in DF-II) but not in open access it gives u the environment where u can directly swtich over to other versions effectively

And DF2 is the design frame work information interchange which is ur layout data base where u perform ur designing like std cells etc.

Bye take care
Hope u got it

Re: Open Access & DFII

Open access is the new open database format promoted by cadence. DFII is th older proprietary format.

Re: Open Access & DFII

dfII is "Design Framework II" from cadence. dfII version 5.1.x and earlier uses cdba database. Newer versions of dfII, 5.2.x and 6.x use OA. 5.2.x was never meant for production use. 6.x contains tools for converting cdba to OA.

Re: Open Access & DFII

With OpenAccess database you can write C++ programs to extract data from the database instead of using proprietary Cadence Skill codes. Many EDA tools start to support OA data format. This means for example you can use same C++ program to access database generated by Cadence or Synopsys.
