communication and signal interview questions
Hi friends
Let us start posting some basic interview questions onCommunciations/Wireless Technologies /Mobile ........ /Antennas /Microwave ..../Electromagnetics....
Please every contribute and share your experience in interviews by posting few basics of communications like
What s the need for modulation ?
Why AM range is more than FM ?
Like these simple questions along with answers .Its very helpful to all .
Improve our basics by this way......
Thanking you friends,

Added after 11 minutes:
1) What s the AM radio frequency range ? AM signal bandwidth ?
Ans:
AM radio ranges from 535 to 1705kHz ===> 1170 kHz
AM signal bandWidth is 10 KHz ==> ideally speaking total 1170/10 ==> 117 different channels available for AM radio stations .
2 ) United States can have nearly 5,000 AM radio stations on only 117 different frequencies How ?
Ans :
Signals of stations tend to be limited in their range, you can use some of the frequencies many times — as long as the stations are far enough apart geographically.
3) How far an AM station's signal travels depend s on which factors ?
Ans:
1)Station's frequency (channel),
2)The power of the transmitter in watts,
3)The nature of the transmitting antenna,
4)How conductive the soil is around the antenna (damp soil is good; sand and rocks aren't),
5)Ionospheric refraction. (The ionosphere is a layer of heavily charged ion molecules above the earth's atmosphere.)
