Analog muxes often have high series resistance
(worse for x8 and x16). You can find quad SPST
switches (some, with complementary control
polarities) as low as 1 ohm and one of these plus
a 74HC 2:4 demux could be a superior solution if you
need (say) 100mA out of VDD. You can also
parallel the unused channel to make one of these
sources lower Ron if you like.
