wlan specifications

hi, i am in a RFIC design team. my leader tell me to design circuits to meet

the specifications. e.g the group delay, IP3, etc. but what confused me

mostly is why? why the group delay is 40ns or less, why not 60ns or more?

there must be some reasons. could u tell me how to determine the

specifications of the system? i think it must be a better preparation for my

design! i will know what is more important and what is less important~~
i try to read the standard of the IEEE, IEEE Std 802.11a-1999 for example,

but i donnot see any words concern about the specs. of PHY. another why?
thanks a lot!!
