i want to make a simple electronic project tht involves optocoupler...i m nt willing to use an optocoupler ic(want to make it myself) and use it in circuit...so help me wid this...thanku v much!!

Why not?

All the same, if you must, use an IR LED and a IR detector LED, align them-face-to-face, slide a heat-shrinkable black tube over them, and shrink the tube; your very own 4 pin opto-coupler!

what is your projects any idea ?

thnx..can u tell me about some simple electronics projects in which i could use these optocouplers?

How about sound communication through optic fiber using optocoupler.

why simple sound there can video , data etc are carrying fiber optic

you can make a very very very simple project :)

What you have to do; just take a Push button, batteries, your optocoupler, and a load to drive with opto coupler may be an LED.
connect them in such a way that the push button with Transmitter of optocoupler, and LED with reciever of opto coupler and connect the supply to it.

now by pressing the push button u will ON and OFF the load (LED) without any electrical connection.

Try it :) :)

TLP250 is one of popular opto-coupler-

Get a look of links for test circuit....

**broken link removed**

May be helpful to you...

Good Luck

if it is TLP250 then No.....Opto-couple generally used to have insolation for the control of the power unit....if you are planning to use 50v then I will recommand you to use realy ...

Good Luck

i really helped....wat can i add to it to make it a bit complex??

Others have suggested microcontrollers, consider some microcontroller application using a microcontroller that you are familiar with.

relay_opto.gif

I want to replace the relay with optocouppler

It can not be directly one to one replacement.
The input to the transistor can be through the optocoupler.
If it is matter of eliminating the relay then something like triac or SCR can be thought of.

instead of TRIAC and SCR are component for AC voltage, whether it can also be used DC voltage?
thx
