Hello all,
I am trying to design a transition between a 50Ω coax line and a rectangular waveguide with unusual dimension: ~200mm width and ~2mm height (a very wide and short waveguide)
The purpose is to excite the TE10 mode with good matching and wide bandwidth.
I'll be glad to hear your ideas of how to feed such a structure and obtain good matching and wide-band performance.

Thanks,
P.

I doubt this strange waveguide/coax transition could be adjusted to a "wide bandwidth". The low waveguide height will be a low-impedance line, and you should experiment with the transition. No models work, this is why most transitions are sold for good cost, and no know-how is free to have.

Thanks jiripolivka,

I agree with what you said. This holds for almost everything that requires more than an "off the shelf" product.
I did design a tapered transition with reasonable performance. However, my deign is electrically (and physically) large, so i'm looking for something a bit more compact.

I'll be happy if someone can throw ideas in this direction.

Thanks again,
P.

if you really consider the size, check USELT. I have implemented C and Ku-band, much smaller than conventianl transition.

Thanks zhul3,
i'll try to contact them
